The TPS61088 is a high power density, fully integrated boost converter with an 11m power switch and a 13m rectifier switch that provides an efficient, small form factor solution for portable systems. With a wide input voltage range of 2.7V to 12V, the TPS61088 supports applications with single or two-cell Li-Ion batteries. The device features 10A switching current capability and is capable of delivering output voltages up to 12.6V.
The TPS61088 uses an adaptive constant off-time peak current control topology to regulate the output voltage. The TPS61088 operates in PWM mode under medium to heavy load conditions. Under light load conditions, the device can select one of the following two modes of operation via the MODE pin. One is a PFM mode that increases efficiency; the other is a forced PWM mode that avoids application problems due to low switching frequency. The switching frequency in PWM mode can be adjusted from 200kHz to 2.2MHz with an external resistor. The TPS61088 also implements a programmable soft start function and an adjustable switching peak current limit. In addition, the device is available with 13.2V output overvoltage protection, cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection, and thermal shutdown protection.
The TPS61088 is available in a 20-pin 4.50mm × 3.50mm VQFN package.
