An overview of the
The PN532 is a highly integrated contactless read-write chip, which contains an 80C51 microcontroller kernel and integrates various active/passive contactless communication methods and protocols under 13.56MHz.
The PN532 transmission module supports six different working modes:
Reader mode, supporting ISO/IEC 14443A/MIFARE? mechanism
Reader mode, supporting FeliCa mechanism
The reader mode supports ISO/IEC 14443B
Card operation mode, ISO 14443A/MIFARE? mechanism
Card operation mode, FeliCa mechanism

80C51 microcontroller kernel with 40 kB ROM and 1 kB RAM
Highly integrated analog circuits, demodulation and decoding responses
The output buffer driver is connected to the antenna by a small number of external passive devices
RF field detector is integrated
Integrated data pattern detector
Support ISO/IEC 14443A/MIFARE?
ISO/IEC 14443B is supported only in reader mode
The typical operating distance in reader mode exceeds 50mm, depending on antenna size, tuning, and power supply
In NFCIP-1 mode, the operating distance is up to 50mm, depending on the antenna size, tuning and power supply
In card operation mode, the typical operating distance is about 100mm, which is determined by antenna size, tuning and external field strength
In reader mode, Mifare Classic encryption is supported, which can support two higher data transmission speeds of 212 kbit/s and 424 kbit/s
FeliCa mode supports 106kbit/s, 212kbit/s, and 424kbit/s baud rates
Integrated RF interface of NFCIP-1, transmission rate up to 424kbit/s
Support host interface:
- SPI interface
- the I2C interface
- serial UART
Flexible interrupt mode
Low-power mode hardware power failure mode software power failure mode
