The BME680 offers you all the environmental sensors you want in a small package. This small sensor contains functions for recording temperature, humidity, air pressure and VOC gas. Anywhere on SPI or I2C at a great price!
Like the BME280 & BMP280, this precision sensor from Bosch can measure humidity with an accuracy of ± 3%, air pressure with an absolute accuracy of ± 1 hPa and temperature with an accuracy of ± 1.0 ° C. Because the pressure changes with altitude and the pressure readings are so good, you can also use it as an altimeter with an accuracy of ± 1 meter or better!
The BME680 takes these sensors to the next step by including a small MOX sensor. The heated metal oxide changes resistance based on the volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the air, allowing gases and alcohols such as ethanol, alcohol and carbon monoxide to be detected and air quality measurements to be made. Note that you get a resistance value with the total VOC content, but you cannot distinguish between gases or alcohols.
Please note that this sensor, like all VOC / gas sensors, is variable. To get accurate measurements, you should calibrate it against known sources! However, for general environmental sensors, it gives you a good idea of trends and comparisons.
This breakout includes a 3.3V regulator and some level shifting so it can be used with your favorite 3.3V or 5V microcontroller without any problems.
