ADuCM360 is a fully integrated 4 kSPS, 24 bit data acquisition system, which integrates dual core high performance multichannel sigma delta ADC (ADC), 32 bit ARM Cortex M3 Cortex MCU, and Flash/EE memory on a single chip. In wired and battery powered applications, the device is designed to be directly connected to external precision sensors.
ADuCM361 integrates all the functions of ADuCM360, except for the main ADC, that is, no ADC0, only auxiliary ADC, that is, ADC1. The default of our development board is ADuCM361.
The device comes with an on-chip 32 KHz oscillator and an internal 16 MHz high frequency oscillator. The clock signal is relayed through a programmable clock divider, in which the MCU kernel clock working frequency is generated. The maximum kernel clock speed is 16MHz, and is not limited to working voltage or temperature.
The microcontroller core uses ARM low power Cortex-M3 kernel. It is a 32 bit RISC machine, providing the peak performance of up to 20 MIPS. Cortex-M3 MCU integrates a flexible 11 channel DMA controller to support all wired (SPI, UART, I2C) communication peripherals. The chip is integrated with 128 kB nonvolatile Flash/EE and 8 kB SRAM.
The analog subsystem is composed of two channel ADC, each ADC connected to a flexible input multiplexing. The two ADC can operate in full differential and single ended mode. Other ADC functions include: a dual channel programmable exciting current source, a fusing current source and a bias voltage generator AVDD_REG/2 (900mV), which can set the common mode voltage of the input channel. The low end internal grounding switch can turn off the bridge circuit between the two transitions. The ADC contains two parallel filters -- a Sinc3 or Sinc4 in parallel with a Sinc2. Sinc3 or Sinc4 filters are used for precision measurement. The Sinc2 filter is used for fast measurement and step change detection of input signals. The device also integrates a low noise, low drift internal bandgap reference voltage source, and can be configured to receive up to 2 external reference voltages in a proportional configuration. The option of caching external reference voltage is also integrated into the chip. The chip is integrated with a single channel buffer voltage output DAC. ADuCM360/ADuCM361 also integrates a series of internal and external devices, which can be configured by microcontroller control according to application needs. These peripherals include: UART, I2C and dual channel SPI serial I/O communication controller, 19 pin GPIO port, 2 universal timer, wake-up timer and system watchdog timer. At the same time, a 16 bit PWM with 6 output channels is provided.
ADuCM360/ADuCM361 is designed for battery powered applications requiring low power consumption. The microcontroller core can be configured as an ordinary mode of operation with a power consumption of 290 A/MHz (including Flash/SRAM Idd), so that the total system power consumption of all peripherals is 1mA.
Through direct programming control, the device can also be configured as a number of low-power working modes, including a dormancy mode (internal wake-up clock activation), at a time when the energy consumption is only 4 mu A. In sleep mode, peripherals such as external interrupts or internal wake-up timer can wake up the device. As a result, the device can operate in very low power consumption mode while still responding to external asynchronous or periodic events.
The on-chip firmware supports serial downlink through serial line interface (2 pin JTAG system) and UART, while serial line interface supports non intervention simulation. These features are integrated in a low-cost QuickStart development system that supports the precision analog microcontroller series.
